Professional Associations

A member of the Northwest Territories Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists (NAPEGG) from 1982 to the present.

Served as a member of the Council from 1987 to 1991, including terms as President and First Vice President, as well as Chair of the Finance Committee, Professional Practice Committee, Discipline Committee, and member of the Enforcement Committee and Nomination Committee.

Received the Distinguished Life Membership award in 2006.

Designated as a Fellow of Engineers Canada in 2007.

Responsible for the effective delivery of the Asset Management, Petroleum Products and Systems & Communications programs. These programs involved a staff of 231, an annual budget of $50 million and management responsibilities for an additional $60 million of client and customer funding.
1991 - 1998 Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations
Department of Transportation, Government of the NWT

Responsible for the effective delivery of the Highways and Engineering, Ferry Services, Motor Vehicles and Arctic Airport programs. At their peak these programs involved a staff of 311, an annual operating budget of $57 million and a capital budget of $40 million.
1990 - 1991 Director, Accommodation Services Division
Department of Public Works and Services, Government of the NWT

Responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures; and for the overall co-ordination and control of the programs for the leasing, managing and disposal of buildings for the GNWT. This program involved a staff of 26 and an annual expense budget of $36 million and revenue budget of $15 million.
1984 - 1990 District Superintendent, Yellowknife

Responsible for project management, property management and maintenance for all GNWT owned and leased buildings, works, vehicles and equipment in the Yellowknife District. Work included supervision of trades, engineering and administrative staff of 40 and management of a program with an annual operating budget of $17.5 million.

Responsible for project management, property management and capital planning for the Department of Public Works and Highways, Inuvik Region. Work included supervision of three architects/engineers and administration of a construction and renovation program valued at $2 million.

Contracted by the Conservation and Renewable Energy Branch to develop a program for ongoing public participation in energy policy.
