For a second time, a peaceful retirement has eluded me.

First of all and most importantly I would like to thank all of you who came out and voted for me - for your confidence and your continued support. An election campaign requires a little money and a great deal of work, so I would also like to express my gratitude to those individuals who helped to share the load by contributing financially, posting signs, distributing pamphlets, canvassing by phone, administering the website and appearing as friendly faces in the audience during the all-candidates meetings.

I must also thank Shirley for her forbearance and support over the past three years. This position requires me to spend far too much time away from home. It is also her peaceful retirement that is on hold for another three years.

Electioneering does not come easily to me. I am one of those "politicians" who likes the grunt work after the election much more than the election itself. With the election over, I can now focus on what for me is the more interesting part of the job. Over the next three years we will be dealing with implementation of the new solid waste management plan, rebuilding the out-of date South Cariboo Official Community Plan and updating the Interlakes Community Plan, establishing a workplan for internal audits, establishing a climate change action plan, and endorsing an agricultural policy for managing the interface between agricultural and residential properties.

It has never been my goal to remake the CRD or Area L in my image, however it is my hope that when I finish my term, I will have contributed to making both a little stronger and a little better than when I started.

Once again, thank you to everyone who cast a ballot in my favour and to all of you who campaigned on my behalf.
